THE JEN GRILLO MEMORIAL/FISHERS POLICE CORPS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to a City of Fishers high school senior who expresses a strong interest in the criminal justice field. The student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, be accepted to an accredited college or university, seek to attend full time, and possess school leadership, community commitment and a desire to contribute to society. One $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior applicant.

To apply, please fill out and submit an application, plus a typed or handwritten 500 word minimum essay indicating why you have chosen a law enforcement related career and how you specifically plan to meet your goal.

Two letters of recommendation are required:
1) one from a school teacher and
2) one from either a school counselor, coach, or community leader.

The recommendations must be submitted in a sealed envelope, and the back of the envelope signed by the author of the recommendation. Any applications not containing the application form and all its parts, essay, student transcript, and letters of recommendation, will be considered incomplete. Completed applications must be submitted by March 29th.

After the Corps Board reviews all applications and essays, you will be notified of your status and if selected, will be contacted to set up an interview time. Do not make inquiries regarding your status. You will be informed if you have been selected to continue in the process.

We are happy to announce that Carson Jaynes been awarded a scholarship for 2023. Officer James Alvis and Detective Nelson are pictured presenting the scholarship. Carson graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School, where he was a Fishers Police Cadet. He plans on attending IU's Kelley School of Business, majoring in Finance and Accounting.
He will be part of IU's Cadet Officer Program with the ultimate goal of becoming a police officer.
